Whenever I'm in Ubud, I'll always try to eat in a Rp.50.000 budget (I'm not a tourist so please bare with my super minimalistic budget lol), except for special occasions and circumstances. This was definitely one of it.
Pardon me but whenever I dine I'll always looked at the menu before deciding if I want to eat there. When I first saw that the food was relatively above Rp.50.000, I was ready to turn back and go on to more restaurant hunting. But when I know WHY the food are priced a little bit more expensive than other warungs in Ubud, I stepped right in.
Fair Warung Bale is a unique restaurant that prides itself in giving back 100% of its profits to the Fair Future Foundation. A foundation that provides free health and medical care for the people and children of Indonesia.
That's right, for every meal that you had here, 2 free health care are given to the people in need.
And do you know what's the best part of this warung? The food is actually tasty! I'd come back even if this was a normal warung without the cause. But with this extraordinary operation that they are doing, I'll definitely make a stop to Fair Warung Bale every time I visit Ubud and try all the food on their menu. Note that Fair Warung Bale is rated 10 out of 500+ restaurants in Ubud at TripAdvisor. Check it out here.

Luckily the balcony was free when I arrived, so we decided to sit there. It was a breezy afternoon, you know how Ubud is always a little bit cooler than Seminyak.
We had a late breakfast earlier so my bf and I decided to share an appetiser and a main course. Food prices ranges from Rp.35.000-Rp.110.000. For appetiser we had Tomato Bruchetta (Rp.35.000) served in a french baguette and Chicken Curry with rice (Rp.70.000). Ubud has so many inexpensive warungs and cafes, so this is a bit above my usual spending. The chicken curry here is Rp.70.000, when usually I could spend only half of it for my main meal. Then again this is for charity so I'd happily pay more.

It was worth it. The tomato bruschetta is so fresh! I've always believed that bruschetta is made up by very little ingredients and simple flavors, therefore is best if its made with highest quality and freshest ingredients. We both also loved the chicken curry. The vegetables from the chicken curry was so crunchy and yummy that we left some of the chicken but fought to get the last vegetable! YUMS. Out of all teas in Indonesia I'd probably loved Balinese tea the most. Balinese tea is tea with lemongrass and ginger, I ordered it here too. It was so good that I finished it in two minutes. Good thing they have free water for everyone, otherwise I'd have to order my second Balinese tea!
By ordering a meal at Fair Warung Bale you not only provide two free healthcare but also contribute to fund their new paediatric hospital building! The foundation employs local youth beneficiaries, in which many are from disadvantages area. All of the medical staff and helpers are all from Indonesia. They helped around 30.000 lives every year, and that's only from Fair Warung Bale. If you wanna know more, check out their website here, and if you want to donate click here.
